Learn about your community.
a.
What kinds of volunteer programs are offered in which students
your age can participate? Try to volunteer some of your time
to help someone else. Organize a group of your friends to
volunteer to help someone else.

Does your community offer recreational programs, activities
and services for students your age? What are they? How are
they funded?
c. What kinds of celebrations and festivals does your community
offer? Can you participate? Would you be able to help with
celebration/festival preparation?
d. Interview people who work in your community's government
(mayor, city council member, judge, sheriff, police, public
librarian, etc.). Where do they get the funds for their salaries
and budgets?

Some people in your community may not be working and are looking
for jobs. Where would they go to find a new job? Some people
may not have money to buy food. Where would they go to find
food? Others may be homeless. Where would they live? How are
these services funded in your community?
