Return to the Moon

On January 27, the LBJ Library and Museum will celebrate the special exhibit To the Moon: The American Space Program in the 1960s with a panel discussion entitled Return to the Moon. Alan Bean, astronaut and artist, will join Astronaut Lee Morin and Johnson Space Center officials Jeff Davis, Clinton Dorris, and Matthew Leonard to discuss our past, present, and future on the Moon. Co-sponsors for this event include The University of Texas Center for Space Research, The University of Texas Department of Aerospace Engineering and Engineering Mechanics, the Texas Space Grant Consortium, and Southwest Airlines.

The discussion will begin at 6:00 p.m. in the Lone Star Room at the Frank Erwin Center. Following the program, join us for a reception in the Great Hall at the LBJ Library (2313 Red River Street). Admission is free but tickets are required. Tickets will be distributed at the LBJ Library beginning January 20. Tickets are available at the information desk (open 9a.m. - 5p.m. everyday).

The Frank Erwin Center is located at 1701 Red River, between 15th Street and MLK, Jr. Blvd. Free and handicapped parking will be available in the Erwin Center parking lot located adjacent to the building (reserved lot 108 in the diagram below). The entrance to the parking lot is on Red River, just south of the entrance to the Erwin Center. Please enter the Erwin Center through the entrance on Red River Street. The Lone Star Room is directly inside the front entrance, to the right.

For the reception, free parking is available at the LBJ Library at 2313 Red River Street.
