When the office files of Clifton Carter were received at the LBJ Library in
1969, they were housed in White House Central Files Storage Box 133. Box 133
also included Richard Nelson's Aide's File, 1964 Christmas Cards from foreign
dignitaries, and a "Statement of Secretary of Defense Robert S. McNamara
before the House Armed Services Committee on the FY 66-70 Defense Program and
1966 Defense Budget, February 18, 1965." On June 9, 1997, the Christmas cards
and New Year's Greeting from Heads of State which were in a folder to be
transmitted to Dorothy Territo were transferred to the Special Head of State
File. Christmas cards from Heads of State, foreign ambassadors, and other
foreign dignitaries, were transferred from WHCF Storage Box 133 to "Greeting
Cards Sent to President Johnson," Boxes 14-15. The envelope containing one
folder labeled, "Richard H. Nelson," which contained Richard Nelson's personal
file (correspondence), was transferred to Richard Nelson's Aide's File, Box
1.
The archives staff disposed of the copy of the "Statement of Secretary of
Defense Robert S. McNamara before the House Armed Services Committee on the FY
66-70 Defense Program and 1966 Defense Budget, February 18, 1965," which had
been filed in Carter, Box 4. A copy of McNamara's statement is filed in WHCF
Oversized Attachments under the date of February 19, 1965.
