Postal Service to honor Presidential Libraries with new stamp issue

The U.S. Postal Service will celebrate Presidential Libraries with a commemorative postage stamp to coincide with the 50th Anniversary of the Presidential Libraries Act of 1955.

At 10:30 a.m. on August 4th, the First Day of Issue dedication ceremony will be

held in the LBJ Auditorium. A Color Guard made up of Boy Scouts from the Tejas District will bring in the colors and The Austin Children's Choir will sing two patriotic songs.

Susan Plonkey, the vice president of Customer Service for the Postal Service, will preside over the dedication ceremony.

The nation's newest postage stamps will then be on sale in the lobby of the LBJ Library and Museum along with a special First Day of Issue cancellation.

Special cachets representing all of the Presidential Libraries will be on sale in the LBJ Museum Store.
