Happy Birthday LBJ! August 27th.

Central Texans are invited to help commemorate the birthday of the 36th President of the United States, Lyndon Baines Johnson, on Saturday, August 27, 2005. President Johnson would have been 97 on that day.

Birthday cake and refreshments will be offered for visitors to the LBJ Library and Museum beginning at 9 am until 5 pm...or until the cake runs out.
LBJ was born in 1908 in a small cabin along the Pedernales River and died in 1973. He is buried a few yards from his birthplace on the LBJ Ranch in Stonewall, Texas.

Museum visitors will also have a chance to see the exhibit Signs of the Times: Life in the Swingin' Sixties. This is an exhibition that captures all of the excitement of the 1960s in every area of American popular culture: from the "British Invasion," Motown, and Psychedelic music to the fashions of go-go dancers, mods and hippies – from the cutting edge comedians and sports personalities to the campy TV shows (and commercials) – and from the "hip" books and movies of a generation to the crass consumerism that became the essence of pop art.

Sponsored by Time Warner, the exhibit runs through Labor Day.
