LBJ Library and Museum Plaza and the Lady Bird Johnson Center A new look at the LBJ Library! The original plaza which was constructed from slabs of travertine and terrazzo was plagued with leaks and has been redesigned with granite pavers and planters filled with native Texas trees and plants. This entrance to the Library and the Lady Bird Johnson Center highlights the library’s mission as a center for learning and the Johnson’s emphasis on learning. The Plaza is now a tribute to Lady Bird Johnson who is remembered as an advocate of education, a champion of the environment, and a person of charm and grace. This renovation includes repairs to the Library building, the auditorium, and the creation of classrooms with state-of-the-art technology.
