The Scoop: Presidential Historian Michael Beschloss will join David Eisenhower, H.W. Brands and nationally recognized experts in the fields of education, electronic archives and information age technologies to look at what lies ahead for Presidential Libraries. The conference is co-sponsored by the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum and the National Archives and Records Administration, which administers the 10 Presidential Libraries. Beschloss, an award-winning historian and author, will deliver the keynote address. John Carlin, Archivist of the United States, will provide closing remarks at the end of the two-day conference. Topics covered in the conference include the effect of new communication technologies on Presidential Libraries; access issues that include the declassification process and the impact of the Presidential Records Act; the new and growing role of education in Presidential Libraries and whether Presidential Libraries should become places of historical and public policy debate.
