The University of Texas Chamber Singers will present a holiday concert of A Capella Christmas carols in the stunning LBJ Library Great Hall on The University of Texas campus on Thursday December 7 at 8:00 p.m., and again on Sunday, December 10, at 7:00 p.m. A free ticket is required to gain admission and can be obtained in advance.

The program will include a number of favorite carols including arrangements of O Come, O Come Emmanuel, I Wonder as I Wander, and Silent night, as well as a wide selection of other classical and new choral works for the holiday season.

The UT Chamber Singers, currently under the direction of James Morrow, has been one of the premiere American collegiate choral ensembles for nearly half a century. This highly select ensemble of mixed voices was organized in 1957 by Dr. Morris J. Beachy. They have traveled extensively throughout the United States and much of Europe, the Middle East, and South America and have performed for many national, regional, and state conventions of the ACDA, MENC, MTNA, TMEA, TAMS, and NATS. In the '04-'05 academic year they performed at the ACDA National Convention in Los Angeles, performed Terry Riley's Sun Rings with the Kronos Quartet, sang for the Texas Music Educators Association convention, performed under conductor Gunther Schuller, and gave the North American premiere of Brazilian composer José Maurício Nunes Garcia's Missa de Nossa Senhora da Conceição, which they recorded for international distribution. In 2006, they recorded a compact disc of American choral music on the Naxos label.
